Why Merino Wool is the Best Fabric for Travel

Why Merino Wool is the Best Fabric for Travel

We went on a trip! As many of you know, we are a family-run business and we are so lucky to get to do what we love every day. Still, life can get busy, and as a family, we appreciate the opportunity to take a break and simply be with each other without the extra noise of work and school.

In January, we stepped away from the day-to-day and took a trip to Vietnam. Not only did it provide us with the adventure and family time we were craving, but it reminded us that Merino Wool is the best choice for travel—which made us love what we do even more!

Whether we were biking through rice fields, trying to find the bus that would take us to the next town, or reading bedtime stories in a hotel across the world, wearing Merino Wool was always the right option.

I'm wearing our Simply Merino Crew Dress here (which I wore constantly on this trip!).

Why we Love Merino Wool for Travel

So, why is Merino Wool so good for travel? Merino Wool is ideal for travel because it’s breathable, odour-resistant, temperature-regulating, and can be worn multiple times without washing, making it the best fabric for personal comfort and packing light.

Odour Resistant

Unlike synthetics or even cottons, Merino Wool doesn't hold onto odour, which makes it perfect for wearing over and over between washes. So, how does it work? Merino Wool has a complex composition that enables it to absorb and lock away your body's natural bacteria within the fibre to stop odour from developing.¹ Pretty cool, right?

Breathable

Lets your body breathe no matter the weather or humidity. We love not having unbreathable plastic fabrics on our skin and wool is the best of the best when it comes to natural breathability. Better for you and better for the planet.

Temperature Regulating

Keeps you warm on cold days and cool on warm days. It's not magic, it's science. Wool has a natural 3D crimp that regulates body temperature by trapping warm air during cold weather and wicking away moisture in warmer weather to release sweat and heat through evaporation.²

Quick Dry

Want to spontaneously jump into water on a hike? Merino Wool underwear is all you need. It's also great for longer trips where you need to sink-wash and hang to dry.

Looks Great Longer

Merino Wool is naturally wrinkle-resistant.³ Wear after wear, your Merino Wool will continue to be photo-worthy. Pick the Merino Wool styles you love most and layer with travel-friendly accessories. You can't go wrong.

Ideal Layering

From night to day, weather system to weather system, temperatures can change wildly when you're on the go. Luckily, Merino Wool was made for layering. Whether you're using your Merino Wool as a base layer against your skin, or styling your look with with Merino Wool outer layers, it's lightweight, breathable, and temperature regulating qualities will get you from moment to moment more comfortably.

Packs Light

Go carry-on only! Not only are Merino Wool thermal layers lightweight, they can also be worn again and again so you can pack less and leave extra space to bring home keepsakes.

Merino Wool Travel Packing List

Here's the wool we packed on our two-week adventure to Vietnam.

For Me

Crew Dress: Layer or wear on its own. Could dress it up if I wanted to.

Oversized Long Sleeve: Perfect layering. Fit is flowy which was so nice when it was warm. (Currently out of stock but will be coming back Spring 2026!)

Side Slit Lounge Top: Great for cool nights.

Underwear and Bralette: All day, everyday, and doubles as impromptu swimwear!

For Him

Men's Fit T-Shirts: For all the adventures. Wear them again and again.

For the Kids

Thermal Sets: For sleeping and adventuring.

One more thing we love: while we didn't get the chance to bring the new Neck Scarf on this trip, it's the ideal travel piece. It's temperature regulating as a neck scarf (get it wet for extra cooling), use it to cover your hair in the rain or wind, tie the corners to make an impromptu bag, or lay it down for a mid-day picnic. The options are endless.
